Bringing down democratically-elected government is treachery: Shiv Sena on Rajasthan crisis

Mumbai/IBNS: Shiv Sena, which is presently an ally of the Congress in Maharashtra, said bringing down a democratically-elected government is "treachery" while commenting on the ongoing political crisis in Rajasthan, media reports said.

In an editorial of Sena's mouthpiece Saamana, the party said phone tapping is an assault on freedom.

So it needs to be decided which one among the two is a bigger crime, said the Sena claiming the Rajasthan phone-tapping has exposed many.

The comments from Maharashtra's ruling party came after the Centre sought a report from Rajasthan chief secretary on the allegations of phone-tapping after the two audio-clips of having conversations regarding the conspiracy to topple the Congress government emerged.

The Congress government in Rajasthan plunged into a political crisis more than a week ago after then Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot flew to Delhi revolting against CM Ashok Gehlot.

Gehlot has alleged Pilot was playing in the hands of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to topple the Rajasthan government.

The Sena, which is a former ally of the BJP, stitched an alliance with its ideologically-disperate parties, National Congress Party (NCP) and Congress, to govern Maharashtra.
