BJP led alliance crosses magic figure of 64 in Assam in initial counting

Guwahati/IBNS/UNI: The ruling BJP-led-alliance in Assam is in course to come back to power again, as in the initial round of counting,  the alliance has already crossed the magic figure 64, numbers needed to form the government in 126 member assembly.

At 10.30 am the BJP lead alliance which includes Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and UPPL are leading in as many as 66 seats, while the Congress-led alliance which includes AIUDF and BPF is ahead in only 23 seats.

Many senior leaders of Congress like Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Ripun Bora are trailing from Gohpur seat, Debajit Saikia is trailing from Nazira.

The newly formed Assam Jatiya Parishad-Raijor Dal alliance is leading in four assembly seats.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal is leading in Majuli constituency. Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is leading in Jalukbari constituency. AGP president Atul Bora is leading in Bokakhat constituency.

State Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya is leading in Dholai constituency.

Assam Minister and BJP candidate Siddhartha Bhattacharya is leading in Guwahati East constituency.
