Bihar CM Nitish Kumar discusses flood situation with PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi/Patna, Aug 14 (IBNS): As the flood situation in Bihar worsened, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the situation with the state chief minister Nitish Kumar, according to media reports on Monday.

The prime minister's office tweeted Modi as saying, "My thoughts are with all those affected by floods in parts of Bihar. The situation is being monitored closely."

The PMO also tweeted, "Centre assures all support to Bihar government to mitigate the flood situation. Teams of @NDRFHQ are in Bihar for rescue and relief work."

According to a couple of tweets from the NDRFHQ, several teams have been deployed in various areas:

"6 teams of NDRF being airlifted from Bhubaneswar to Patna for gearing up flood rescue operations in Bihar.."

"6 NDRF teams landed at Patna (BIhar) for gearing up flood rescue operations @ Dedarganj, Motihari, Gopalganj and Sitamari"

Thirteen districts of North Bihar are reeling under floods for the past few days.

Modi has spoken to the Chief Minister of Assam  Sarbananda Sonowal too regarding the flood situation in the state.

PMO tweeted: “Ever since Assam has witnessed flooding, the Central Government has been closely and constantly monitoring the situation."

"All possible support is being provided to Assam for overcoming the flood situation prevailing in parts of the state.” the Prime Minister said.
