New Delhi/IBNS: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday served a show-cause notice to Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate in Kolkata Port assembly seat, Firhad (Bobby) Hakim, after the BJP had complained about a viral video where he was allegedly abusing the saffron party and Central paramilitary forces, officials said.

According to reports, the poll body has asked Firhad Hakim to explain his stand in making the alleged abusive remarks during a roadshow in Kolkata within the next 24 hours.

Weeks ago, providing viral footage, BJP had put forward a complaint before the ECI and alleged that Firhad Hakim was inciting violence and encouraging his followers to attack BJP workers during a poll campaign.

Several BJP leaders tweeted the video too.

Meanwhile, Hakim claimed that the video provided by the BJP was doctored.

Note: IBNS did not verify the authenticity of the footage independently.
