Arvind Kejriwal writes to opposition parties to discuss Center’s ordinance

New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to opposition parties for discussion on Centre’s ordinance in the meeting which will be held on June 23 in Patna.

Kejriwal, in the letter, expressed his apprehension, "Just because this has only been promulgated in Delhi, which is often considered a 'half-state', it does not mean that it cannot be promulgated in other states.

"By promulgating such ordinances, the Centre can end up dissolving all the matters that come within the concurrent list of the Constitution of India."

Kejriwal said, "The Central government has the authority to introduce similar ordinances on any subject within the concurrent list. Therefore, it is crucial for all opposition parties to come together and deliberate on this issue to ensure the protection of states' autonomy."

The Centre's new ordinance over Delhi's share of administrative powers has fuelled, at least momentarily, the Opposition's plans to slam the Modi government.

Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal along with his colleagues from his government even flew down to Kolkata to meet Mamata Banerjee, an arch-rival of BJP, and other key opposition leaders to garner support for his party's anti-Modi stance.
