Arun Jaitley sues Arvind Kejriwal and AAP leaders over DDCA row

| | Dec 21, 2015, at 05:37 pm
New Delhi, Dec 21 (IBNS) Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday filed a civil defamation suit in Delhi High Court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and several other AAP leaders for implicating him in the irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), reports said.

Delhi's ruling AAP will also file a First Information Report or police complaint against Mr Jaitley alleging forgery, corruption and loot of public money in the DDCA.

The row involves alleged financial irregularities in DDCA which escalated  after a CBI raid on Kejriwal's top officer last week. AAP alleges that the CBI officers carried out the raid to search for DDCA files to help the Finance Minister, who was at the helm of DDCA when the corruption took place.

Rubbishing the allegation, Jaitley had announced that he would  sue for defamation r Arvind Kejriwal,  AAP's Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpayee.

AAP has demanded that  Jaitley must resign or be removed for a fair investigation.

At a press conference on Sunday,  BJP lawmaker and former cricketer Kirti Azad said that contracts were given to fake companies, crores were paid to them in cash and accounts were fudged.

The DDCA has admitted that there were irregularities, but has absolved Mr Jaitley of any involvement.

The Delhi government has ordered an inquiry headed by former Solicitor General of India Gopal Subramaniam.
