Anupam Kher denied entry into Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 10 (IBNS) Actor Anupum Kher, who reached Srinagar this morning, to show sympathy with NIT students was denied entry in the city by Kashmir Police at Srinagar Airport.

He was allegedly detained at the airport.

Kher tweeted early morning and said he landed in Srinagar and would reach out to NIT Srinagar who are on protest for the past few days 

"Landed in Srinagar. 'HOME' away from home. Will go to #NITSrinagar & meet the students & give them a warm hug & a special gift.:)," Kher tweeted.

"I have been told by J&K police that I cannot enter Srinagar city at all. I have asked them to show me the orders. Still at the airport," he said.

Kher said he was denied by the police to visit his ancestral home or Kheer Bhawani temple.

"My view of Kashmir was clouded today. But i am sure these clouds will clear one day. There'll b sunlight.:)#Optimism," the actor said.

The NIT campus saw clashes between police and non-local students on Apr 5. The protesting students have said they fear for their safety and demanded that the NIT campus be shifted out of Srinagar.
