Kolkata/IBNS: With just a few months left for the high-octane assembly polls in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday paid a visit to Indian classical vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty's residence, triggering a debate whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is aiming to reach out to the cultural group of the state ahead of the electoral battle.

Shah, who visited Chakraborty's residence, also listened to music for some time.

The powerful BJP leader's visit has quite obviously led to the speculations whether Chakraborty will join the saffron party, which has witnessed the joining of a number of eminent personalities over the last few years.

However, Chakraborty rejected all such speculations.

"I don't understand anything about politics. My only party is music party... Even former President APJ Abdul Kalam being in office had visited my house," Chakraborty said.

Shah during his two-day visit to the state lashed out at the Mamata Banerjee government giving a call to "uproot" the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) from power.

"Doesn't matter who are laughing at our claims but the BJP is going to win more than 200 seats in the assembly elections," Shah said.
