Srinagar/UNI: A total of 20000 Pilgrims were allowed to proceed from Baltal base camp towards Amarnath cave shrine on Monday after three days of a halt due to inclement weather while it was going on normally from Pahalgam, an official said.

Meanwhile, with 6265 pilgrims paying obeisance at the holy cave shrine of Amarnath this morning, the total number of pilgrims having darshan has reached over 1 lakh so far since the commencement of the 62-day-long yatra on July 1, he said.

He said 19276 pilgrims, including women and Sadhus, were allowed to proceed from Baltal base camp towards the cave shrine of Amarnath via Dumail until 10 am on Monday amid good weather conditions.

The yatra was suspended from both the routes of Pahalgam and Baltal on July 7 due to inclement weather and slippery trek conditions.

However, the yatra resumed from the shortest route, Baltal, in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. by Chopper service and by foot from Pahalgam on Sunday.

A sizable number of pilgrims left Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam this morning for the cave shrine via Panjtarni for darshan.

Kashmir weather, an independent weather observatory, Faizan Arif, predicts that there is a possibility of a short shower (30% chance) for both the routes to the Holy Cave of Amarnath: Pahalgam to Amarnath and Baltal to Amarnath Holy Cave. Overall, nothing significant is expected on Monday, he said.

He said the outlook for the next two days is likely to remain dry during the day, and there is a possibility of rain showers between the afternoon and evening on both routes of Amarnath.
