Adequate number of personnel guarding India's international borders
New Delhi, Mar 16 (IBNS) Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, in a written reply, informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that India's borders are guarded by an adequate number of personnel.
He explained that the international borders of India are not uniform in character -- they differ in terms of physical features, terrain and climatic conditions as well in terms of threat perceptions; hence the ideal number of personnel required to secure the international borders vary from border to border, sector to sector.
He also said that the Ministry of Home Affairs, from time to time and in consultation with Border Guarding Forces, reviews and suitably calibrates the deployment of Border Guarding Forces; recently, BSF has deployed 18 additional companies along the international border in the Punjab.
