Activist Senge Hasnan Sering praises Tibetan officer who died fighting against 'intruding' Chinese force

Washington: Activist  Senge Hasnan Sering praised Tibetan jawan, who is a part of the 'Vikas battalion', for embracing martyrdom on Aug 30 while defending Ladakh against intruding Chinese forces near Spang-gong Tso.

"We salute our Tibetan brother Officer Nyima Tenzin of Vikas Regiment who embraced martyrdom on Aug 30 while defending Ladakh against intruding Chinese forces near Spang-gong Tso. We salute PM Modi for leadership as India for first time since 1962 is able to regain land from China," he tweeted appreciating Indian PM's leadership.

A Tibetan soldier of Company Leader rank has been reportedly killed, and his junior injured, by Chinese bullets at India’s northern border in Ladakh region while they were on patrol duty, sources told Tibet Sun.

Company Leader Nyima Tenzin, 51, was reportedly killed by a gunshot in the neck. He is said to be from the Tibetan settlement in Choglamsar near Ladakh’s capital Leh, and had 33 years of service.

The injured man is Tenzin Loden, 24, also from Choglamsar settlement. The incident took place on Saturday night, the newspaper reported.

They were part of the 7th battalion of the Special Frontier Force (SFF).

It is a unit made up of Tibetans under the Indian Army.

LAC Development:

In a fresh attempt to change the status-quo at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Chinese troops have carried out provocative military movements at Pangong Tso in eastern Ladakh to only get thwarted by India, the country's Defence Ministry said on Monday.

The Indian Defence Ministry said the incident happened on the 'night of 29/30 August 2020'.

"PLA troops violated the previous consensus arrived at during military and diplomatic engagements during the ongoing standoff in Eastern Ladakh and carried out provocative military movements to change the status quo," read the official statement.

"Indian troops pre-empted this PLA activity on the Southern Bank of Pangong Tso Lake, undertook measures to strengthen our positions and thwart Chinese intentions to unilaterally change facts on ground," it said.

This is the first attempt by China to trespass at the LAC since the deadly border clash took place between soldiers of the two Asian giants at the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Jun 15 night.

In the first deadly clash, in a time span of over 40 years, at least 20 Indian personnel were martyred.

Though China did not disclose the casualties on its side, unconfirmed reports claimed at least 45 Chinese personnel were killed in a befitting reply by the Indian soldiers.
