1000 packets foreign cigarettes seized in Assam’s Karimganj

Guwahati/IBNS: Police seized 1000 packets foreign cigarettes in Assam’s Karimganj district on Friday night.

Based on intelligence input, police had launched a search operation at Nagamati area in Karimganj district and found the foreign cigarettes from an autorickshaw.

Police had also detained the driver of the autorickshaw.

A police officer said that, police had seized 1000 packets Myanmar made cigarettes worth several lakh of rupees from the autorickshaw.

"The police team had seized the cigarettes during naka checking at the area. We have apprehended the driver of the autorickshaw," the police official said.
