New Delhi, Dec 22 (IBNS): Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the loss of lives in a Border Security Force (BSF) plane crash in Delhi.
At least ten personnel of the BSF were killed on Tuesday morning as a small plane crashed near the Delhi airport just after take-off, media reports said.

In a message to Devendra Kumar Pathak, Director General of Border Security Force, the President has said, “I am sad to learn about the tragic BSF plane crash in Delhi, in which all the BSF personnel on board lost their lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the families, who have lost their near and dear ones. I am sure that all necessary help and assistance is being provided to the next of kin of the deceased."

He said, "Kindly convey my sincere words of sympathy to the families of the deceased personnel. I pray to the Almighty to give the bereaved families the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss."

Condoling the deaths of the BSF personnel, PM Modi said: "Pained by the loss of lives in the BSF plane crash in Delhi. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased."

The crash took place at around 9.50 am, moments after technicians lost contact with ground control.

The plane reportedly hit  a wall and then crashed into a septic tank. The aircraft burst into flames.

More than a dozen fire engines are at the spot, besides security forces and a crowd from a village nearby.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma has said that an investigation has been ordered.

"The tragic news of BSF plane crash near IGI airport in New Delhi is extremely painful. Rushing to the crash site immediately," Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted.

"My heart goes out to the families of those who died in the BSF plane crash today. The incident is extremely painful and shocking," he wrote.
