Salt n Spice and everything that’s nice! It truly is a nice, cosy and a homely place where one can go with friends and family. And…the food it serves…is simply delicious!

I loved every dish that was served…Chicken Charmoula, Chicken Wrap Prawns, Veg Spring Rolls, Teriyaki Paneer, Chicken and Egg Fried Rice, Pan Fried Fish and Pad Thai Noodles. Just a bite into Chicken Charmoula and I understood that I was in for a very tasty treat! It sure was…the flavour of Chicken Charmoula took me by surprise; boneless chicken was perfectly cooked in coriander paste.

It left me craving for more but there was more to sample. If I were to rate them in order of my preferences I would say…Chicken Charmoula, Pad Thai Noodles ( loved it), Chicken Wrap Prawns …innovatively rich, Teriyaki Paneer, Veg Spring Rolls, Pan Fried Fish cooked with red wine and the Chicken and Egg fried Rice. In fact, each and every item was impressively presented, fresh to taste and good to eat!

Salt n Spice, is a new entrant in the densely populated cosmopolitan area… home to Bengalis, Biharis, Gujaratis, Punjabis  and Marwaris. Bhawanipore is its address and to be more precise at 12, Ramesh Mitra Road, Kolkata-25. Spread across 862 sq. ft. this eatery sits prominently in the heart of Kolkata’s one of the most interesting localities in the Bhawanipore area.

Salt n Spice is a 30-seater restaurant, offering a well curated lunch and dinner menu inspired by the local tastes that craves for chilli chicken and chowmein but also enjoys a serving of the Chicken Chermoula! The neighbourhood thrives on ‘adda’ with street food being high on preferences at everyday evening sessions, but Salt n Spice is already changing that mood and preferences. Salt n Spice serves quality food at unbelievably affordable prices, with a meal for two at Rs. 300/- only.

"Dotted by architecturally rich residential buildings that have been standing in the area since almost a century, this locality is one of Kolkata’s most vibrant cosmopolitan hubs comprising chilli chicken and chow mein-devouring Bengalees, sandwich-savouring Marwaris and the Gujaratis relishing dhoklas and fried food from sparkling clean kitchens!

"Interesting additions to the food culture of Bhawanipore emerged during the last two decades or so, especially with mixed community vendors selling fast food off carts from around street corners," informs Jaspreet Singh, F&B head at Salt n Spice.

The food being served is more of a fusion spread or rather one should say… ‘comfort food’ which have been created keeping in mind the  traditional preferences for healthy, filling, delicious meals rustled up quickly to cater to a diverse taste.

The menu also undergoes occasional changes where seasonal ingredients are added to make it even more interesting.

Besides Asian food, Salt and Spice also has on offer a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare—sandwiches, dim sums, soups, starters and an interesting selection ice-creams…guava, anjeer, sitaphal, choco chips, mango, Belgian almond, chikoo and strawberry flavours plus colourful popsicles in blackberry lime sorbet, orange, tamarind chilli, oreo cookies and chocolate, triple berry and mango raspberry flavours are their special attractions. One should try their creamy smoothies and shakes along with iced teas, lemonades and mojitos in various flavours.

Following their Chef’s recommendations the must haves are the Hot Garlic Assorted Vegetable Sizzler and the Black Bean Chicken Stir Fry.

The food and the homely comforting atmosphere of Salt n Spice makes it the most preferred place for a family meal date…plus its affordable pricing is an added attraction!
