Vizag hosts BRICS workshop on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency

Visakhapatnam, Jul 5 (IBNS): The two-day BRICS workshop on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency being held at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Prades, concluded on Tuesday, according to media reports.
Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, B.P. Pandey along with the delegates from BRICS countries met the media before the commencement of the workshop on Tuesday.
 
Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa comprise BRICS.
 
The central government highlighted its efforts towards energy saving and energy efficient programmes, such as LED street lighting programme and (Performance Achievement and Trade (PAT) programme for industrial energy efficiency to the BRICS Working Group on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency.
 
BRICS countries too made presentations on the measures taken by them to promote energy saving and energy efficiency.
 
On Sunday, energy principal secretary Ajay Jain told the media that the Centre decided to showcase Andhra Pradesh's efforts in energy saving measures. 
 
The BRICS group consists of developing countries that are expected to see a spurt in energy growth, which is expected to be larger than developed countries. 
 
Keeping this in view, the countries have recently entered into a MOU in energy saving and energy efficiency, media reported.
