Tremor felt in North Bengal, no casualty reported

Kolkata/Siliguri, Mar 12 (IBNS): A 3.8 magnitude earthquake hit the northern part of West Bengal on Saturday.

The tremor, which hit for few seconds around 9:45 pm, was felt in different parts of north Bengal which included Siliguri, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar. The quake triggered panic in the area.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the epicentre of the quake was located in Jalpaiguri region (Lat. 26.7 degree North & Long. 89.4 degree East) in West Bengal and the depth of the earthquake was 21 km.

However, no casualty has been reported so far.
