Magnitude 6.4 earthquake rocks Assam

Guwahati/UNI: An earthquake of 6.4 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Assam on Wednesday at 0751 hrs.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Sonitpur district.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake occurred at latitude 26.69 N and longitude 92.36 E.

People felt strong tremors in the state capital city Guwahati too, with some damages reported.
