Heavy rains disrupt normal life in Mumbai, train service badly hit

Mumbai, July 10 (IBNS): Normal life in Mumbai was disrupted as heavy rains lashed the city since Monday and left several areas waterlogged.

Local train services in and around Mumbai have been badly hit due to rain and water logging on tracks.

As rainwater accumulated on tracks, suburban trains services between Vasai and Virar near Mumbai have been suspended, announced Western Railway.

Western Railway tweeted: "Due to very heavy water accumulation in adjoining areas of Rly tracks & upto 200 mm water above rail level on rail lines at Nallasopara, train movement between Vasai Road - Virar is suspended till further information. Trains running from Churchgate-Vasai Road with delay. @drmbct."

Trains are running late in some routes, said Western Railway.

"Services of AC local have been suspended today ie 10.07.2018 in view of very heavy rains & water logging at/around Nallasopara, till further information. Inconvenience is deeply regretted please #WRUpdates," it said.

Met Department has predicted 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall till Thursday.

As a precautionary measure, school ans colleges in Mumbai remained closed on Monday.
