7.3 earthquake hits Japan

Tokyo, Nov 22 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter Scale hit Japan on Tuesday, officials said.

As per the  Japan Meteorological Agency website, the quake hit at bout 06:00 local time in Fukushima-ken Oki region.

The epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 37.3 degrees north and longitutude 141.6 degrees east.

A  tsunami advisory was issued after the quake.

Residents of the area have been directed to seek higher grounds.

No casualty has been reported so far.

"It is the first quake with a magnitude of 7 or bigger to hit Japan since July 2014," Kyodo News reported.
