Sensex goes up by 629.12 pts

Mumbai/UNI: Extending gains for another day, BSE Sensex on Thursday spurted by 629.12 pts at 38,697.05 following gains in Finance, Bankex, Telecom, Realty and Technology stocks amid positive global peers.

The Nifty of National Stock exchange gained 169.40 pts at 11,416.95.

The day opened on a strong note at 38,410.20, up by 343 pts.

During the day, it advanced by 671 pts to 38,738.89, days high before closing at 38,697.05, surging by 629.12 pts from its previous close.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 38,738.89 and 38,410.20 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,428.60 and 11,347.05 pts.

The sectoral indices that kept the market strong were Finance, Bankex, Telecom, Realty and Technology stocks.

In scripts, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj finance, Bajaj Auto, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank.

However, selling in ONGC, ITC, NTPC, Titan and Reliance Industries restricted further gains, the broker informed.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.73 pc and Small Cap by 0.69 pc.

In 30 scrips, 25 advanced while 5 declined.
