mjunction plays key role in procurement of essentials for diverse needs, from medical to food to merchandise

Kolkata/IBNS: A B2B e-commerce company, mjunction Services Limited, a joint venture of Tata Steel and SAIL, is offering its services as a procurement domain expert, aiding procurement of essential goods and services necessary by various companies at this time of crisis.

Said mjunction MD Vinaya Varma, “It is our privilege to be able to contribute in this time of national crisis. Our team of sourcing and procurement specialists are rising to the occasion, often braving multiple odds to ensure that essential activities do not take a hit during lockdown.”

According to a release by mjunction, its procurement team has been working to purchase and procure medical facilities, including masks, medicines, sanitizers, ventilators and other essential items for Bokaro General Hospital, IISCO Burnpur Hospital and JLN Hospital & Research Centre of Bhilai of SAIL.

The mjunction team working under the aegis of the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHiPS), the nodal agency for e-governance in the state, has processed a tender in record time to help procure five lakh masks, PPE kits and examination gloves for the Chhattisgarh Medical Service Corporation Ltd, accroding to the company.

The company said that its helpdesk at Raipur continues to work round the clock to provide any important help that may be required regarding the procurement of these medical essentials.

The company said it is facilitating procurement of foodgrains from Food Corporation of India.

Since 2017, mjunction conducts weekly e-auctions for FCI to provide wheat and rice to domestic bulk consumers and traders.

Ever since the nationwide lockdown began, mjunction has e-auctioned 5.5 lakh tonnes of foodgrain for FCI, it said.

The mjunction release also said that the company has been playing a key role in procuring food raw material for TajSATS, in association with Tata Trusts, which is serving about 40,000 meals daily among government hospital doctors and police force in Mumbai and Delhi.

It stepped in when regular vendors failed to comply, according to the company.

Salt forms an essential part of food and consequently manufacture and transportation of bulk salt bags is a key factor.

The mjunction procurement team is a key supplier of bulk salt bags to Tata Chemicals.

As the pandemic crisis deepened through March, the supply lines kept getting affected.

The need peaked as the lockdown was announced and Tata Chemicals wanted a consignment of at least one lakh bulk salt bags in the last week of March.

mjunction strpped up manufacturing and delivery of these bulk salt bags to the Mithapur unit in Gujarat.

Ever since the lockdown began, the company said it has facilitated supply of 2 lakh such bags to Tata Chemicals.
