Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee tumbled down 19 paise to 76.21 against the US Dollar on brisk demand for the American currency by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.

Though the local unit improved 12 paise to 75.90 in the opening trade, it erased earlier gains

and closed negative at 76.21, sliding 19 paise as compared to its last close.

The domestic unit was seen weak due to firm greenback against other world currencies, the dealers said.

The Rupee registered intra-day's high and low at 76.26 and 75.87 respectively.
