Indian Rupee down by 55 paise against USD

Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Monday dropped by 55 paise to Rs 72.73 on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at Forex Market said.

The local unit that improved by 9 paise to 72.09 in opening trade tanked by 55 paise to end negative at 72.73 as compared to last close.

The domestic unit registered day high and low at 72.78 and 72.03 respectively.

The Indian currency remained negative on strong dollar against other world currencies along with negative equity market dealer added.
