Indian Market: Sensex up by 157 pts

MumbaiUNI:  The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday advanced by 157 pts to 34,527.20 in opening trade on brisk buying in Materials, Health Care, Industrials, Consumer Durable and Metal stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange too rose by 47 pts to 10,214.80.

The Sensex registered intraday high and low at 34,527.20 and 34,319.96 pts respectively.

The Nifty registered intraday high and low at 10,214.80 and 10,150.95 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Materials, Health Care, Industrials, Consumer Durable and Metal stocks kept the market firm for the third straight session.

The midcap was up by 0.29 pc and small-cap by 0.11 pc.

In 30 scrips, 18 advanced, 11 declined and 1 unchanged.

The gainers were Sun Pharma by 2.92 pc to Rs 503.25, Asian Paints by 1.32 pc to Rs 1656, Tech Mahindra by 2.19 pc to Rs 598.40 and Tata Steel by 1.06 pc to Rs 377.20.

The losers were Maruti Suzuki by 1.27 pc to Rs 5662.85, SBI by 0.94 pc to Rs 185.05, M & M by 0.86 pc to Rs 467 and HDFC Bank by 0.83 pc to Rs 1007.

A total of 23 companies, include HeroMoto Corp and Bombay Dyeing are going to declare their results.
