Indian Market: Sensex rallied 448.62 pts

Mumbai/UNI: BSE Sensex on Monday added another gain of 448.62 pts at 40,431.60 at close following gains in Finance, Bankex, Metal and FMCG stocks amid strong global peers.

The nifty of national stock exchange too rose by 110.60 pts at 11,873.05.

The day opened at 40,318.57, up by 336 pts. During the day it surged by 537 pts to 40,519.48, days high before closing at 40,431.60, rising by 448.62 pts from its previous close.

The sectoral indices like Finance, Bankex, Metal, Oil and gas and FMCG moved up. In scrips, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Nestle India, SBI and HDFC boosted the same.

However, selling in Bajaj Auto, TCS, M& M and Bharti Airtel capped from further gains, broker informed.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 40,519.48 and 40,211.22 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 11,898.25 and 11,820.40 pts respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.58 pc and Small Cap by 0.43 pc.

In 30 scrips, 23 advanced while 7 declined.
