Mumbai: Food delivery platform Zomato has partnered with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to launch its new service, 'Zomato - Food Delivery in Trains', media reports said.

This collaboration aims to improve train travel experiences by allowing passengers to order a wide range of dishes directly to their seats.

The service is currently available in 88 cities and has successfully delivered 10 lakh orders across 100 stations since its launch.

According to a Business Standard report, Rakesh Ranjan, CEO, Food Delivery, Zomato, said, “We are thrilled to collaborate with IRCTC, allowing us to provide culinary delights to train passengers, making their journeys a memorable experience. We are confident that the scale of our collaboration with IRCTC will touch the lives of millions of customers across India and make train travel a convenient and delightful affair.”

With ‘Zomato - Food Delivery in Trains,’ customers can order meals from their train compartment or while at the station, offering convenience to every passenger.

Users can open the Zomato app and search for terms like 'train,' or update their location at the station.

After this, they will be prompted to enter their PNR, which will automatically retrieve their seat and train details, ensuring that delivery partners bring the order to the correct seat.

This innovative service allows food delivery just as the train is about to arrive at the station.

Customers can also choose to pick up their orders from designated points at the station.

In case of train delays, Zomato tracks the train's timings to adjust the delivery schedule accordingly.
