US President-elect Donald Trump has slammed the California officials for 'incompetence' in handling the Los Angeles fire that has left 16 people dead and the region ravaged.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: "The fires are still raging in L.A. The incompetent pols have no idea how to put them out."

"Thousands of magnificent houses are gone, and many more will soon be lost. There is death all over the place," he said.

Trump said: "This is one of the worst catastrophes in the history of our Country. They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?"

Four major wildfires have damaged over 38,000 acres and destroyed at least 10,000 structures.

More than 166,000 people are currently under evacuation orders after the wildfires started ravaging the area last week with firefighters battling to bring them under control.

Strong winds caused the fires to spread rapidly with firefighters struggling to contain them since last week when it began.

The wildfires have left 16 people dead so far.

Several Hollywood celebrities including Adam Brody, Tom Hanks, Ben Affleck fled their homes which were burnt down.
