Vietnam aims to send 125,000 labourers abroad to work under contracts in 2024, focusing on key traditional markets such as Japan, China's Taiwan and South Korea, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday, citing the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The country will send about 48,000 workers to Taiwan, 63,000 labourers to Japan and 8,500 to South Korea this year, according to the ministry.

In 2023, the number of Vietnamese labourers sent to work abroad under contract reached its peak with 155,000 people.

There are currently about 650,000 Vietnamese guest workers in 40 countries and regions in the world.
