At least one person died and four others were injured after a Bombardier Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing at Scottsdale Airport and hit a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet in the southwestern U.S. state of Arizona on Monday.

"According to initial reports, the Learjet’s left main landing gear failed upon landing, leading to the collision," the City of Scottsdale was quoted as saying in a statement as reported by ABC.

The flight was reportedly inbound from Austin, Texas.

Scottsdale Airport wrote on X: "An accident has occurred upon arrival to runway 21. Fire Department is on scene assessing the situation. Scottsdale Airports runway is currently closed."

The impact left one person dead.

The injured people, whose condition are said to be critical, were sent to a local trauma centre.

Jet Pros, LLC, which operated the Gulfstream, said no person was present in the parked flight at the time of the crash.

"There were no injuries on board the Gulfstream, but external damages were sustained to the aircraft," the statement said as quoted by ABC.
