New York/IBNS/UNI: Two people were killed and seven others injured in a shooting in suburban Miami in the U.S. state of Florida, according to local law enforcement officials.

A fight between customers took place in a bar at CityPlace Doral, a leisure destination in Miami, in the early morning and gunshots were then fired among a security guard, police officers, and a gunman.

The gunman and the security guard were killed while a police officer from Doral City and six bystanders got shot, reports said.

The wounded police officer has been discharged from the hospital while two of the bystanders are still in critical condition.

The City of Doral Police Department alongside the Miami Dade Police Department and the Federal Department of Law Enforcement have been working to investigate the cause of the gunfire.

The United States has by far the highest rate of gun-related deaths among wealthy countries.

Over 4,200 people died and more than 7,500 others were injured from gun violence in the country so far in 2024, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
