US to solve North Korea crisis with diplomacy, insists Tillerson

| | Oct 16, 2017, at 08:02 pm
Washington, Oct 16 (IBNS): US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said that the country is buying time and would love to solve the North Korean crisis diplomatically.

In a recent interview with CNN, Tillerson said that diplomacy will continue with Pyongyang until "the first bomb drops".

In Sunday's interview, he also declined to comment when asked if he had indeed called the US President a moron.

"I'm not going to deal with that petty stuff,' he said.

Meanwhile, North Korea has reportedly denounced the joint US-South Korea exercise as "rehearsal for war".

The exercises involve aircraft carriers, fighters jets and destroyers and is taking place in waters surrounding the Korean peninsula.

Earlier, the US President has urged the Secretary of State to stop negotiations with the reclusive Asian regime.

Trump had told Tillerson to 'not waste energy negotiating with Little Rocket Man', a title that had Kim Jong-un come hard at the US President in a rare public speech, terming him a 'dotard'.
