US President Donald Trump tests negative for COVID-19

Washington/IBNS: US President Donald Trump has tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus, an outbreak declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), media reports said on Sunday.

Trump agreed to have the test conducted on him as he came in contact with several members of a Brazilian presidential delegation visiting his Florida resort who tested positive for the virus.

"This evening I received confirmation that the test is negative," Trump's physician Sean Conley was quoted as saying in media reports.

"One week after having dinner with the Brazilian delegation at Mar-a-Lago, the President remains symptom-free," he said. 

At present, the US witnessed over 50 deaths are nearly 3000 people are infected with the deadly virus.

Earlier on Friday, Trump declared a national emergency in the country.

His administration also passed a bill to allocate funds for free virus testing, emergency paid sick leave and family leave related to the epidemic.

The US President also suspended travel from 26 European countries to America for next one month, beginning Friday at midnight.
