Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday offered to hand over captured North Korean soldiers to Pyongyang in exchange for the Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia.

The Ukrainian President posted on X: "Ukraine is ready to hand over Kim Jong Un’s soldiers to him if he can organize their exchange for our warriors who are being held captive in Russia."

"For those North Korean soldiers who do not wish to return, there may be other options available. In particular, those who express a desire to bring peace closer by spreading the truth about this war in Korean will be given that opportunity," he said.

Zeleskyy on Saturday revealed the images of the two wounded North Korean soldiers who were captured by Ukrainian troops.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was quoted as saying by BBC that one of the two soldiers told officials he thought he was going to Russia for "training", rather than to fight.

One of the soldiers reportedly possessed a  Russian military ID card issued in the name of another person.

No document was recovered from the other person.

The two soldiers are reportedly getting medical attention in Kyiv at present.

They only speak Korean and are being questioned with the assistance of South Korea's National Intelligence Service, SBU was quoted as saying by BBC.

Meanwhile, Yonhap news agency quoting the South Korean spy agency said 300 North Korean soldiers were killed during the ongoing fight against Ukraine.

The spy agency said 2,700 North Korean soldiers were wounded in the fight.

According to media reports, some 11,000 North Korean troops were fighting for Russia against Ukrainian forces.

According to the UN monitoring mission in Ukraine, since February 2022, conflict there has killed more than 12,300 civilians, including more than 650 children, with at least 27,800 injured.

Over 700 medical facilities and 1,500 schools and colleges have also been damaged or destroyed.
