New York City, Mar 12 (IBNS): At least two people have reportedly died after a helicopter crashed into the East River in New York City on Sunday.

Three people are said to be critical and are currently in hospital.

They were pulled out of the water by rescuers.

Authorities have confirmed that the helicopter was carrying six passengers, who were involved in a photo shoot.

"We are told the five people were all tied tightly in harnesses that had to be cut and removed," New York Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro told reporters.

He condoled the loss as a 'great tragedy'.
