| @indiablooms | Aug 22, 2020, at 10:44 pm

Ankara/UNI: Turkish prosecutors on Saturday ordered the detention of 47 military personnel suspected to be linked to the 2016 coup attempt.

As per reports of the NTV broadcaster the police personel launched simultaneous operations across the country to catch the suspects and till now it has been able to detain 36 of the suspects.

The Turkish government blames U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen for engineering the coup attempt in July 2016, during which 250 people were killed, and it has been pushing for Gulen's extradition.

On Tuesday, a large operation was conducted across 70 provinces to detain 141 military personnel, including some soldiers on active duty, over their suspected links to the network headed by the Gulen.
