Toronto schools get spooked by clown threats

Toronto, Oct 6 (IBNS): A group by the mane of "Clowns in the 6" have been sending threats to schools in Toronto through social media.

An official complaint to the Toronto police has led to an investigation of the matter.

The Toronto Catholic District School board spokesman, John Yan said the group allegedly mentioned eight schools as their targets and the board was notified about it by school Principals.

"We reported the threats to Toronto Police who are currently investigating the source of these threats," he said. "It may be part of the 'clown attack' phenomenon that is taking place across North America on social media the Internet, where people dressed as clowns are pranking people."

The parents of the students as well as the teachers and staff members were intimated by the school principals.

"Unfortunately, the clown pranking phenomenon is another example of how the power of social media is encouraging bad behaviour among young people," Yan said.
