Taliban mortar firing kills six civilians in Afghanistan

Kabul, Sept 10 (IBNS): At least six people were killed when a Taliban-fired  mortar shell hit a civilian home in the Greshk district of Afghanistan's southern Helmand province, media reports said on Monday.

The district police chief, Mohammad Ismail Khpalwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News the overnight incident killed six people, including women and children. Six others were wounded.

Mohammad Saleem Rodwal, the district’s administrative chief, told the Afghanistan-based news agency that the Taliban targeted several security check-posts and used heavy and light weapons.

The Taliban did not comment on the issue so far.
