Taliban militants blow up oldest shrines in Afghanistan's Ghazni city

Kabul, May 3 (IBNS): Suspected terrorists belonging to the Taliban group have blown up one of the oldest shrines in Ghazni city in Afghanistan, media reports said on Friday.

The local officials have confirmed to Khaama Press that the shrine of Shams-ul-Arifin, one of the oldest shrines of Ghazni city was blown up by Taliban militants late on Wednesday night.

The shrine is located in the western parts of Ghazni city.

The provincial government media office confirmed in a statement that the tomb of a popular Sufi Abdul Wahid also famous as Shams-ul-Arifin who had died in 601 Hijri or Lunar year, was located inside the shrine, reported Khaama Press.

The statement further added that the Taliban militants blew up two shrines in Moqor district and another and the shrine of Sakhi Sahib was also blown up in Ghazni city by militants of the group, read the news agency's report.

The Taliban did not comment on the matter so far.
