Kabul/UNI/Sputnik: Members of the Taliban movement took prisoner and then killed Rohullah Saleh, brother of former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh,  a source close to the resistance forces told Sputnik.

Saleh had earlier declared himself president of Afghanistan following the fall of Kabul

At the same time, a resident of the Panjshir province, which is not controlled by the Taliban, told Sputnik that Rohullah Saleh had died a few days ago fighting against the Taliban.

On Monday, the Taliban declared victory over the resistance forces in the northeastern province of Panjshir.

Later in the day, they announced the new 'acting' government with Taliban leader Mohammad Hasan Akhund as the head.

Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar has been declared the deputy head of the government.
