New York, Oct 23 (IBNS): The police are searching for a suspect who shot and killed a University of Utah student outside of a dormitory on the campus, media reports said on Tuesday.

However, a Utah University alert said the man has been located.

"Melvin Rowland, the suspect in the fatal shooting on campus, has been located and is no longer a threat," read the statement issued by the university.

"One student confirmed deceased," it said.

"All morning and evening classes canceled for Tuesday, Oct. 23. Campus services and facilities will remain open. Support services are available for students, faculty and staff," it said.

When police arrived, they found the female student’s body inside a car near the medical towers, U. Police Lt. Brian Wahlin told The Salt Lake Tribune.
