Shehbaz Sharif episode: Pakistani jailed in Saudi for sloganeering at Masjid-e-Nabwi

Riyadh: A Saudi court has sentenced a Pakistani national to three years in prison as he chanted slogans against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his entourage in Madina.

The incident occured when Sharif visited the city in April.

Muhammad Tahir has also been fined 10,000 riyals,The Express Tribune reported.

Tahir, among other pilgrims, was accused of misbehaving with the Pakistani delegation and chanting slogans at the Masjid during the premier’s visit. Later, he uploaded videos of the incident on social media, the Pakistani media reported.

The convict can now file an appeal within 30 days against the order given by the court.

According to videos on social media, the pilgrims raised slogans of “chor” (thieves) as soon as they saw PM Shehbaz, reports The Express Tribune.
