Security forces kill 4 terrorists killed in NW Pakistan

Islamabad/Xinhua/UNI:  Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistani police in the country's northwest Peshawar city on Tuesday killed four terrorists during an exchange of fire, according to a spokesperson of the CTD.

The exchange of fire took place when the CTD personnel conducted an operation on a tip-off that terrorists were hiding in a house in the Ghaziabad area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province, said the spokesperson.

"On seeing the police officials, the terrorists opened fire on them," said the official, adding that the CTD personnel returned fire, and as a result, four militants were killed.

During the operation, the CTD personnel also recovered guns, hand grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, while further investigation is underway.

Responding to the development, Inspector General of KP police Sanaullah Abbasi told local media that the law enforcement agencies will continue their operations against terrorists to clear the province of terror activities and ensure public safety.

Police have made significant gains against militants in this regard, he added.
