Quick thinking Jet boater in British Columbia helps extinguish grass fire by spraying
Koyne Watson and Tasha Hunt, a couple, were spending their leisure time riding a jet boat on Saturday but were surprised when they sensed a grass fire on the banks of the South Thompson River, east of Kamloops, B.C.
As they approached near the site, the couple could figure it out that it was nothing but a fire.
Though Hunt was nervous at the sight of the fire and particularly when she became sure about it, Watson kept his cool to find a way to control the sudden crisis.
Hunt's fiance Watson then used the spray at the back of his water propelled boat till the time the firefighters came. Miraculously, Watson's plan started to succeed, receiving acclaims from other boat riders in the river.
Reports suggested Watson cranked the boats's motor to somewhere near 1,000 horsepower in an attempt to target the fire and extinguish it.
After the heroic deed, Watson was quoted by CBC News as saying: "I just drove that boat and hung on to that horsepower. We jumped it out of the water numerous times, we did a 360 [degrees] in it once, we were definitely hard on the boat for sure."
Hunt, who was pretty nervous at the sight of the fire, said: "Oh my gosh, pure adrenaline, like I was shaking. That boat has so much horsepower I was just focused on staying on the boat."
Later a fire truck and helicopter arrived at the site and managed to extinguished the rest of the fire.
The couple were out with the jet boat for the first time this summer to spend some leisure time.
