Islamabad, Sept 4 (IBNS): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Arif Alvi has been elected as the 13th Pakistan President, according to an unofficial result of Geo News.

Alvi was contesting against Pakistan Muslim League-(Nawaz) backed chief of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), Fazlur Rehman and senior Pakistan People's Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan.

According to report, Alvi secured 353 electoral votes while Rehman and Ahsan got 184 and 123 votes respectively.

Interacting with reporters, Alvi thanked Almighty Allah for his victory.

"I have nothing in this, my affiliates made me contest the election," the winning candidate has been quoted by Geo News.

Vowing to work by rising above politics, Alvi said as he has been quoted by the media, "I am not just a president of Tehreek-e-Insaf, rather of all political parties and the nation."

Alvi is expected to take oath as the President on Sept 9.
