Mississauga, Feb 19 (IBNS): Patrick Brown, who was reportedly accused of sexual assault by three women, attended the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership campaign event on Sunday, media reports said.

Taking everyone to surprise, Brown has jumped into the Ontario leadership race after CTV News said one of the accusers has changed her statement.

At the campaign event, Brown made his party aware of the consequences of changing platforms.

Addressing four other candidates who are running for the leadership race, Brown said: "You can turn your back on me but you can't turn your back on the members."

He has even said changing decisions with less than four months to go for the election would bring serious downfall to the party.

"You cannot make policy on the fly this close to an election. It is a recipe for disaster" he added.

Brown was quoted by CBC News.

Saying repeatedly that he has cleared himself from the party, Brown said it is the people who have encouraged him to join the leadership race.

Reportedly, one of the accused, who had earlier said she was a high school student when Brown had sexually ill-treated her, changed her stance. She said that she was not a high school student.

Brown's former girl friend Mikaela Patterson, in an interview with CBC News, has rubbished allegations made by one of the two accusers, media reports said.

Patterson has rubbished the allegations made by the then university student who had accused Brown of sexual ill-treating her following a Hockey Night in Barrie Charity game.

The accused had said Brown had forced on her when she visited the then PC leader's bedroom.
