Islamabad: Pakistan's  Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhary mourned the demise of Indian singing legend Lata Mangeshkar and described her as the 'melodious queen' who ruled the world of music for decades.

He tweeted: "A legend is no more, #LataMangeshkar was a melodious queen who ruled the world of music for decades she was uncrowned queen of music her voice shall keep ruling the Hearts of people for all times to come."

Pakistan's key opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif remarked: "In the passing of Lata Mangeshkar, the world of music has lost a singing legend who mesmerized generations with her melodious voice. The people of my generation grew up listening to her beautiful songs that will remain part of our memory. May she rest in peace!"

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on Sunday morning leaving the entire country mourning. She was 92.

The veteran singer was being treated for Covid-19 and pneumonia symptoms for over a month.

The singer, referred to as the Nightingale of India, was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital in January with Covid-19 and pneumonia.

Her symptoms were mild but she was kept in ICU due to her age. Over the weeks, Mangeshkar showed signs of improvement but on Saturday, she was put back on the ventilator after her health deteriorated.
