A Pakistani journalist was injured after he fell from his motorcycle when unknown persons opened fire on him in Kohat region of the country on Saturday, media reports said.

Yasir Shah, who works with Pakistan-based news channel Geo News, was returning to Kohat after covering the Urs of Pir of Mukhad Sharif located across the River Indus in Punjab.

Kohat deputy commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir, assistant commissioner Usman Ashraf and SP investigations Jameelur Rehman visited him in the KDA Hospital, reported Dawn News.

SP Rehman said the police had launched an operation in Gumbat tehsil for the arrest of the attackers.

The journalist said he could not recognise the attackers who targeted him.

The members of Kohat Press Club and Kohat Union of Journalists condemned the incident.

A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
