Pakistan: Unknown gunmen attack DC’s squad in North Waziristan, 2 dead

Islamabad: At least two people died as unknown gunmen attacked the security squad of the North Waziristan tribal district’s deputy commissioner on Tuesday, media reports said.

The deceased people included a cop.

Three security guards were reportedly hurt in the incident.

Official sources told Dawn News the deputy commissioner’s security squad was on its way back to Miramshah after dropping Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan in Bannu when the incident occurred.

They said the attackers ambushed the squad in the Epi area, some three kilometres from Mirali town.

The attackers escaped following the attack.

An official told Dawn News that two people were killed in the attack, Constable Alaf Rehman and a passer-by called Hayatullah.
