Pakistan university shut following security threats

Islamabad, Dec 21 (IBNS): A Pakistani university has been shut down following for an indefinite period after it faced threats, media reports said on Sunday.

Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) is located in Islamabad.

Public sector universities in Islamabad have announced an unusual one week break from Dec 22.

"The universities are International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), National University of Science and Technology (Nust) Bahria University and National University of Modern Languages (Numl)," Dawn News reported.

QAU, with no boundary wall and a vast open area, could be a soft target of terrorists, sources quoted intelligence agencies officials as saying by Dawn News.

“The security agencies have shown their concern over the security of the university so we decided to close it for an indefinite period,” said a senior faculty member of the QAU, wishing not to be named. to the newspaper.

Last Tuesday, a deadly attack at a school in Peshawar city by Taliban militants killed 141 people including 132 students.
