Pakistan: Two people killed as explosion rocks Balochistan

Islamabad: At least two people were killed as an explosion rocked Balochistan's Chaman area in Pakistan on Saturday, media reports said.

The blast occurred in the country's Qilla Abdullah District which is located close to the border of neighbouring Afghanistan.

The blast left nine others injured.

The dead include a 12-year-old child, Chaman District Police Officer Shaukat Mohmand told Dawn News.

According to police officials, the bomb was an improvised explosive device (IED) which was planted in a motorcycle parked on the roadside, reported the newspaper.

Maulana Hanif, a central leader of the JUI-F, was left critically injured in the blast, Dawn News reported.

Police said he was the target of the blast.

The injured people were shifted to Civil Hospital Chaman for treatment.
